Highwaymen artist Lewis to be honored at reception and exhibit

The Manatee County Cultural Alliance is celebrating the works and birthday of original Highwayman artist Robert L. Lewis with a reception from 6-9:30 p.m. Feb. 3 at the MCCA Gallery, 926 12th St. W., Bradenton.

The Highwaymen are a small group of African-American artists who created more than 100,000 Florida landscape paintings in the 1960s and ’70s. Lewis’ work will be on display at the gallery through Feb. 25. Friday’s reception and 71st birthday party coincide with the Village of the Arts Artwalk as well. For more information: 746-2223.
