Lorraine Hansberry’s play, set in Chicago in the late 1950s, is about an African-American family battling over how best to use a $10,000 life insurance payment for a better future.

“We are elated by the community response to this important play,” Artistic Director Nate Jacobs said in a statement, emphasizing that it was scheduled to coincide with Black History Month. “We are thrilled that the actors are available and that we can now offer this great American play to even more people.”

The production stars Alice M. Gatling as the matriarch of the Younger family and Will Little as her son.

Tickets for all performances are $28 at the WBTT theater, 1646 10th Way, Sarasota. For more information: 366-1505; wbttsrq.org
