’76 Trombones’ and other trouble on Venice Theatre stage

The “Music Man” is coming to town with Venice Theatre’s production about a con man’s scheme gone wrong, opening at 8 p.m. Tuesday (Valentine’s Day). Running through March 11, the show follows the story of swindling businessman Harold Hill (Douglas Landin) who comes to River City, Iowa, with a money-making scam involving the sale of musical instruments. But when he falls for the local librarian (Laurie Colton), he’s left fumbling for a new plan.

Venice’s production of the Tony Award-winning show is directed by Ron Ziegler and also stars Travis Rose, Kevin Sario, Ken Fromer, and Kim Kollar.
